So because I don't already have enough projects on my plate. I have decided to start another one.

I am determined to crochet all of the snowflakes in the book 100 Snowflakes to Crochet: Make your own Snowdrift - to give or to keep by Caitlin Sainio.

I had already made 16 or so snowflakes from different resources I found on Pinterest and other crochet websites. But then I found that I could rent this book on Archive.org, a huge digital library for various books. I was actually scrolling through other crochet books on this website when I came across this one by Caitlin.

Above are the first 3 snowflakes that I tested out. From right to left: Barber, Frost and Stellar Crystal. The book starts very simple, each of them consists of three rounds and uses chains, single crochets, and double crochets. Flipping through the book I've noticed that they get slightly more complex further in, which I'm also excited for.

Down below are my complete snowflakes numbered 4 through 6. From right to left: Spring Snow, Nevada and Polar Glacier. The patterns are still very simple, the first two rows tend to repeat, which I think is great for learning and getting comfortable working in the round.

I recently completed snowflakes number 7 through 9. They are laid out in the picture down below, from right to left we have: Droxtal, Flurry and Narbonnais.

Down below we now have numbers 10 through 13, from left to right: Boreas, Lake Effect, Frazil and Snow Mist.

I'm debating on what type of starch to use with these, since they are going to be weighing each other down I don't think I need anything too sturdy. I'm hesitant to use sugar or cornstarch stiffeners because it's going to be hanging on the wall and I don't want to attract pests. So I'm likely going to go with a pre-made stiffener like glue or a spray on so that it doesn't diminish the colors. I might even try just ironing them out on low heat just to see if that's going to get a good enough effect.
